How to Copy the "DROOOID" Audio File onto Your Motorola Droid
Question:
I love the "DROOOOOID" audio the Moto Droid has, I have it as my audio notification for my text msgs and frankly, its a bada$$ sound ha, I mean come on, how would the iPhone sound if it had something similar...not as effective! Anyways I have the Incredible now and it doesn't have that Droid audio file of course and so I want to copy that file from the Moto Droid to the Incredible. I connected the Moto Droid to the computer and tried searching the on the sd card and couldn't find the file. Is there a way I can search on the phone internally or another method to pull that file?
Solution:
I think that sound is the the /system folder, and I think you need root to access that. Are you rooted?
If files are in the music folder, the phone reads them as songs instead of ringtones/etc. The same is true for any audio file not in the correct file path.
However, you can "tell" the phone which files to use as notifications, ringtones, or alarms.
Here's how: create (if you don't already have) a folder on the SD card called media. Within that folder, create one called audio. Inside of there, create folders called ringtones, notifications, and alarms (if you have one/more of each). Then, place the corresponding sound files into the folder named for what you'd like to use them for.
That way, they'll show up in the ringtone/notification/alarm pickers
