Terrible Suicide Deaths by Employees at Foxconn Facility Shenzhen China
If you have an Apple phone or other device or ever acquired something from Sony, HP or Dell? If so you’ve likely bought something made at Foxconn in Shenzhen China.
The giant factory in the town of Shenzhen China employs 275,000 folk by some reports and 425,000 by others. Whatever the quantity of staff is, the average reported pay is only about $130 per month... How would you feel working 10hr shifts on a fast-paced, incessant assembly line for just 65 CENTS PER HOUR? Do you think any person in the western world that BUYS the thousands of devices being made in China would actually WORK at one of these facilities?
What's the worst part about being at Foxconn; you moved there from a small farming community and have not left it before. You have never been away from your family farm, and now your folks are far away and you can’t see or talk with them. You dont know any person where you‘re employed and probably dont even begin to know the individuals that you live withinternal the walled-in Foxconn compound. How long before you finish up going mad?
The work conditions in the big factory in Shenzhen are most probably not very good. Foxconn makes many billions of dollars in profits, and one worker when talking about the working conditions had this to say :
I love to sometimes drop things so I’ll bend down and pick them up. Its like getting a break. Does that sound like a pleasant place to work to you?
I really feel feel bad to think about the problems they have, but also hopefully they don't produce the items that we use to take our minds off of daily life like a Guitar Hero PS2 bundle. Foxconn does make many different products for different corporations so it's probable if you're shopping for buy new digital camera it is probably made there as well.
Next time you are at the drive through at McD, and they forgot your napkins again, ITS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD! Relax, and put things into perspective. If a missing straw is the worst thing thats going down in your life right now, its actually not that bad is it?
