Multimedia Ebooks are not just about delivering a richer client experience, larger satisfaction, and loyalty. Correctly done, they are a natural fit for up-sells and cross-sells, and may be the best platform yet to sell more premium products.
The idea of a publisher referencing other products is nothing new. Commended publications, either by the author or the publisher, are commonly listed at the end of most books. The problem has long been to get the reader to note and, just as significantly, to take action.
First, a little summation of the "old school" issues just alluded to.
Matter one: Readers basically have to read those lists of other publications, buried at the very end, actually beyond the end, of the book. Few bother. But for those that do, they have to write down what they're fascinated by, go to their PC, Google it (or simply go to Amazon and search for it there) get it, and wait for it to be shipped.
It might not seem like a big score, but it's actually Big. The active person, easily distracted by dozens of more pressing issues, is more certain to say, "I'll do that later." Most of the time, later never comes.
Matter 2: Not only are these upsells buried at the back of the book, they are unimaginative in what they offer. This is mainly due to book publishers and writers limited by traditional, Old Skool publishing ideas.
To explain, think beyond books and CDs and audiotapes. Think about services and products the shopper would likely be interested in and then give it to him in a fast, digital download form.
Modern clients are extraordinarily demanding. Not only do they desire more of what they like, they desire it now, and they do not want to leap through hoops to get it. So if you make them work, you're going to lose the sale. Straightforward as that.

Now enter Amazon's Affiliate marketing program.
As you surely know, Amazon is the largest bookseller in the world (regardless of what Barnes & Nobles says).
But get this.
80 p.c of Amazon's cash comes from its affiliate marketing program. What that means is that the overpowering majority of Amazon's revenue comes from folk selling other individual's product, and not just books! 80 percent!
Here's where it gets a tad weird for us and where Amazon's bipolar tendencies actually shows. As an online retailer, they're the unchallenged kings of affiliate marketing. But as a hardware / software manufacturer, i.e, the Kindle, they went the closed, proprietary, black box route. And history will show inside six months -- well basically the writing's already on the wall -- that this strategy may have been phenomenally near-sighted.
So what does this have to do with a MultiMedia eBook being a web storefront?
To start with, it demonstrates how not to build an eBook reader gadget.
Let me put my neck on the line here.
Within a year, Amazon will have a true tablet device similar to the iPad. This may occur not by choice, but by patron demand for all-in-one solutions rather than stand-alone devices that need the patron to carry about another piece of hardware.
Now the good news for authors, book publishers and almost anyone who would like to earn cash from Multi media eBooks is...
You do not have to make your own content to earn income. What this suggests is that you do not have to form all of the further products the shopper would find interesting after or "during" their read of your Multi media e-book.
Even today, if you needed to, you might join the Amazon affiliate program ... it takes about ten-minutes to sign-up ... pick the products you're feeling your customers would like, and embed links to them in your Multi-media eBook any place you want. Simply don't don't get carried away. Don't change the theme of your book to fit the largest affiliate opportunities .
And listen to me, you will be tempted when you see the categories of commissions you can make on Clickbank and other affiliate portals. Stay in your neighborhood of expertise, and if you do not have a higher price product, seek out someone who does.
And just like that, your book just turned into a specialty store!

Remember, you do not have to form everything you sell online . In fact , if you try, possibilities are you'll give up out of the sheer magnitude of effort.
