Choosing A Door That Can Be Cladded In The Same Shell As Your Building Can Can Sweeten The Planners On Your Hangar

Obtaining agreement from the planners for a hangar door can be awkward. The area where the hangar should ideally be situated is by nature usually in a green belt area and the planners are guarded about allowing people to build large ugly structures that will blight the rural area and add another blot to the scenery.

They may recommend that in order to assist the application the building should be constructed of local material, similar to the other buildings around it, as an example York stone, slate etc. This is easy to apply to the steel frame building, which can generally be clad to make it fit in, but what happens when it comes to the door. Here there is frequently a problem.

Generally, for these sorts of structures a roller shutter door or a folding door are the solution but in these areas they will not blend in well as they are of a completely different product to the rest of the cladding. Normally they are fabric or metal and cannot be built of local timber or sandstone. However a door must be incorporated, for protection, safety and peace of mind so what choices are available.

One possibility would be to go for a hanger door that can be enclosed in cladding compiled of the same material that the building is clad in. This solves the key problem of the planning application as the door blends flawlessly in with it’s backdrop and makes the building look exactly like it’s counterparts. As well it has the further advantage of being much more secure than the other choices, meaning that your helicopter or airplane is much better protected. Regularly these doors secure against ram raid thefts and other burglary issues as well as being extremely sturdy and looking great.

So if you are having trouble getting your application through planning because of it’s looks this idea could just be the solution you are looking for.
