I Was Sweating Away The Pounds When I Started Playing Games
I am studying at a university. For one of my classes I was going to have to do something and write about the results I got. The project involved making a major change in your life and the impact it has. Most of my classmates were going to research the effect of what happened to others. Their paper would be based on the feelings of what others went through. For me, this idea was not attractive. I would write about how I felt if I made a change. The only question was, how would I do that?
Most of my life I have been on the heavier side. I was surrounded by temptations that caused me to do things that I probably should not do and it showed up in the way that I look. Looking in the mirror convinced me that it was time for me to do something and that would allow me to have a topic for my research. I was going to find a fitness program to get healthy.
The key to making this change was to know what I was going to change. I was going to do it in a new way that many people tout and that is through the use of video games that involve motion control like the xbox 360 kinect or the Nintendo Wii, or the Playstation Move that seem to have become commonplace in just about anyone who has a children now have in their home and has become popular with people of all ages.
I decided to see how much help a video game could really give me. My project would be about how well this new method of fitness could actually work based on what I was able to accomplish. I would devote most of the semester to the project. It was not enough time to get a perfect body, but it should do something. In the end I surpassed all of my goals that I had set.
A trip to an electronics store got me a exercise game. My laptop gave me a place to store my thoughts and the actual results I got. Another part that I took into consideration was the food choices that I should make. Making those changes in the environment I was in was not as difficult as I though it would be. I had a meal plan that included a lot of good food. It was up to me to make the right choices. One thing I knew that would have to change is the amount of partying that I would do, but this turned out to be a blessing because it created more time for me to start using the kinect system that I had on a regular basis because I was not either hanging out with friends in a bar or sleeping off the effects of those late nights.
Over time my body started to change. The bulge around my midsection was disappearing. I did not feel like falling asleep in class anymore. Getting trim was only one of the benefits I was receiving. The change in lifestyle affected more than my body. I found myself stepping out into areas that I avoided before. I met a new circle of friends who enjoyed making the right choices for their body. I was meeting more girls than ever before. My social life was better than it had ever been. I found out that both males and females can have fun with video games. I based my paper on these findings. My work was as good as my body and I got an A.
